Ok, so I'm obviously really bored at work. So I looked up these verses and the ones that come before and follow after.
This is what is says to my heart..
Make the most of every day...every MINUTE!! Don't go through life in a daze from day to day just trying to pay the bills. But whatever you find yourself doing...and whatever the Lord puts before you..and whatever path He leads you down..SEE HIM!! Find LIFE and LIGHT in it! Whatever is hidden in darkness bring to the light and don't waste your time doing things that are hidden, but do things that bring light and glory to Him!
After verse 14 it goes on to say.."So watch your step. Use your head. Make the MOST of EVERY chance you get. These are desperate times! Don't live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants."
This was obviously an urgent message.. Paul was trying to convey to his audience that time is short..SEE HIM in it all!! Know what He's asking of you! I love how he says to "use your head." He's telling us to pay attention.
for me, it's a promise that He is faithful to expose the unfruitful deeds of darkness/the dark places that he talks about in 11-12. when we are reborn spiritually (we are awake from the dead) and living in that state of salvation, Christ WILL shine on me... it's just what He does when i am awake/alive to him. and this is a purifying, consuming light. Kinda crazy b/c i listened to a sermon today about light and the power of it, also read some donald miller about the metaphor of light as well... quotes are on the blog :) but just like light, Christ disperses the darkness and the caves in our souls. And I gain confidence that it is Him that purifies and reveals these parts in His gentle timing. He's committed to do that for the sake of making Himself look great...and it's a matter of wisdom to walk in this light. you can stay asleep and disregard salvation or wake up and let him sanctify you through and through. That's His will- to make you a glorified child of His!
